Keeping The Broadway Safe

Over the last few months the Mill Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team have received numerous reports and concerns from local residents about numerous incidents of shoplifting on The Broadway. We have listened to these concerns and have since began regular plain-clothed patrols in the area in an attempt to detect and crack down on shopliftings.

We are pleased to inform you that since last week, Mill Hill and Edgwarebury Safer Neighbourhood Teams have conducted the following on The Broadway:

Catching two masked youths who have shoplifted from a local bakery. The youths attempted to make off from police however were swiftly caught by our officers, alongside help from a member of the public. Both youths have been caught, identified and the stolen items have been recovered. The youths have both received appropriate consequences for their actions.

A shoplifter arrested after being caught after stealing cosmetic/beauty items from a store. Officers were flagged down by a member of staff stating that the store has just been shoplifted. Without hesitation, the officers gave chase to the female who was caught near the location of the incident. The female has since been charged and remanded for shoplifting.

As local businesses play a key part in our community, we will continue to work on measures to ensure that these businesses and their workers will not be subjected to such damaging crimes. We will also continue working towards keeping The Broadway as safe as it can be.

We encourage local residents to continue voicing their concerns to us and report any incidents as this helps us identify key problems in our community which we can develop working strategies to tackle them effectively.
